Tuck in your fingers for safety and chat & chop in the Hunger Relief kitchen.

Every day veggies and protein are prepped and cut into the proper size so meals can be produced for our partner agencies. You never know what you’ll be chopping and dicing as we constantly receive different products. You might learn a new cut of meat or see a new type of mushroom!

Volunteer: Housekeeping-Evening

Laundry is so much more fun to do when it's not your own! The Housekeeping Volunteers manage our laundry facilities to keep up with washing, drying, and folding of aprons and hand towels. They help keep our Hunger Relief Volunteers and Culinary Job Training students stocked with these essential linens. Plus, you will oversee the regular upkeep of the volunteer breakroom and other cleaning projects as assigned.

Be a cheerful presence at our front desk and help make everyone's initial experience with Second Helpings a welcoming one! From greeting visitors who come in the front door to answering phone calls, the Front Desk volunteer is the first interaction with Second Helpings’ guests and callers. As a Front Desk volunteer, you will:

Greet visitors kindly and direct them to the appropriate staff person. Answer incoming phone calls, handle general information questions, and direct callers to staff members as appropriate. Monitor doors and admit visitors and volunteers per our safety protocols. Provide clerical support to Second Helpings staff, as needed. Assist with general office tasks, as needed.

Volunteer: Court-Ordered Community Service- Evening

As a volunteer in our Court-Ordered Community Service program, you will be assigned a task at the start of the day depending on the needs of our Hunger Relief Kitchen. These tasks may include meal prepping, chopping, tilt operating, dish washing, laundry sorting, house keeping, recycling and sorting rescued food/pantry items, etc. Regardless of your specific assignment, you will be making a direct impact by helping prepare the thousands of meals we distribute to our community every day. 

Before signing up for a shift you must complete several qualifications including signing our Community Service Agreement Form. Please visit the tab called "Qualifications" to finish setting up your account.
